Junior C++ Software Developer, York £20,000 - £28,000

A blue chip business who specialise in the design and development of complex libraries and tool chains, used in the automotive arena are looking for a junior C++ Software Engineer to join the team.

The business has been recruiting heavily over the past year due to winning a huge amount of new projects and as a result are very busy and as a result are looking to recruit a very high calibre of engineer to the team. You will be working on some of the most cutting edge automotive projects in the industry and as a result will have a real variety to your work, your core responsibilities will be C++ and networking based, but there are ample opportunities to work on embedded systems, middleware and PC based software.

Your profile will be;

Primary Purpose / Basic Function:

  • Develop PC software for automotive tools / applications targeting embedded processors. Work on projects to fulfill specific customer requirements. Member of product engineering team, based in York, UK.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Design, develop and test SW applications for the automotive domain

  • Integrate customer and third party SW components
  • Prepare appropriate technical documentation
  • Work as part of an engineering team or independently as required

Requirements:

  • Good degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Excellent SW development skills in C++, C# or Java
  • Experience of unit and integration testing
  • Experience of configuration management tools, e.g. Subversion, git
  • Experience of tools for requirements management, fault tracking, etc.
  • Good communication skills: fluent English essential; German advantageous
  • (Advantageous) Knowledge of the automotive domain, especially the AUTOSAR architecture standard
  • (Advantageous) Knowledge of scripting languages, e.g. Python, Ruby
  • (Advantageous) Experience of development in an embedded environment
  • (Advantageous) Experience of Agile development methods (Scrum, test-driven development, etc.)
  • (Advantageous) Experience of technical customer support work (fault finding, issue tracking, etc.)
